Questions about Rio+20? Your chance to quiz the experts

Tomorrow afternoon (1pm, Friday 22 June), on the final day of the UN’s Rio+20 conference in Brazil, we’re taking part in an unmissable question-and-answer session organised by the Stop Climate Chaos coalition and hosted at the Guardian website.

And we want you to add your own searching queries to the hot Rio debate – for example:

  • What happened at Rio+20, exactly?
  • Who were the heroes and villains?
  • Why is sustainable development so vital?
  • Are we any closer to achieving sustainable development goals than we were before?
  • Did world leaders create a ‘blueprint for international co-operation for years to come’?

Post your questions online now, so they’ll arrive in advance and have more chance of being answered. And then tune in to the live webchat tomorrow, 1—2pm.

Not everyone knows that sustainable development, the core topic of Rio+20, underlies everything that we as an organisation do – so it’s natural we’ve been keeping a close eye on what’s been happening in Brazil this week.

Twenty years on from the original 1992 ‘Earth Summit’, Rio+20 was intended to be a forum where world leaders come together to find common solutions to global problems.

Forming alliances and coalitions to bring about the change we want can be a tricky business – but we know it can work. And when it works well the results are much greater than the sum of its parts. In fact that’s why we co-founded the Stop Climate Chaos coalition.

Stop Climate Chaos (SCC) is a coalition of more than 100 organisations, from environment and development charities to unions, faith, community, and women’s groups – all working to limit the impacts of climate change.

Watch SCC’s brilliant film on what’s happened in the last 20 years since the first Rio Earth Summit:

And make sure you join the SCC experts to hear those Rio questions answered, 1—2pm, Friday 22 June.

Spread the word about the Q&A on twitter – here’s a couple of suggested tweets with the relevant hashtags:
