Well I’m excited and nervous – all those rather insecure thoughts keep flowing through my head; what if it’s rubbish? What if no one likes it? What if it’s just boring?! Still I’m always up for a challenge, even though I’m not overly techy and don’t really understand it all, I’m willing to give it a go…so please be gentle with me, as I write my first blog as the new Head of Licensing and Retail for WWF-UK.
I was so thrilled to be offered the job and although we have had an online shop for some years, I’m hoping to make it a bigger and better place to go to buy beautiful desirable products that people (and especially our supporters) know will be of the highest sustainable and ecological standards.
This is very challenging, sometimes we think we’ve found the most amazing product but when the company completes our eco-questionnaire we realise that it’s not as sustainable as we advocate, so we can’t work with the company or sell their products, which is a shame.
However, things are starting to get better and with people becoming more aware about how products are made and the impact they have on the environment more companies are starting to make real efforts in their processes and manufacturing.
We are launching a new online shop next summer, with wonderful products and we’d be very interested to hear what you’d like us to stock. Seriously any ideas that you can give us would be really helpful, so please leave your comments on this blog.
Alternatively, you could tell us of someone who is making amazing eco-products or something you bought recently that you loved. Perhaps you’re making these types of products yourself? Get in touch.
Grey is the new black
In the meantime, we are having a #greythursday sale (instead of black Friday) from Thursday 26 – Sunday 29 November. Check our online shop for more details.
There will also be a great opportunity to purchase some lovely gifts, toys and products at our Living Planet Centre Christmas Fayre on Wednesday 25 November.
Ok, I’m signing off now, but thanks for taking the time to read the first of many blogs about the brand new shop. I hope you all have a great Christmas and well done if you’ve recently made a great sustainable choice, You’re making a difference. Go consumer power!
