Training Time For Team Panda


With the Brighton Marathon and London Marathon fast approaching,  Team Panda are working hard to get ready. Earlier this month we got our  runners together for a special marathon training day, here at the Living Planet Centre. Find out more about how they got on and why they’ve chosen the panda…

Get set go (after a quick cuppa!)

The day started (as always) with tea and a photo opportunity with our resident panda!
Once everyone had been welcomed we gathered to get some top fundraising tips so the team can get the sponsorship that they’re working so hard for.

Next up Laura Hall, spoke about what inspires and motivates her to take on challenges for Team Panda. Laura is one of our super supporters, who has not only run the marathons but also taken on and defeated the epic Iron Man Triathlon!

“Brighton is one of my favourite marathons. You get a lot of support all the way around the course, especially at the famous Panda Bridge which stretches across the road. It’s  totally Team Panda orientated and when you run under it you feel incredible – these guys cheer loud…very loud!”

Laura’s top tip

“One thing that keeps me going is my Team Panda running vest, which has my name on the front. Having people cheer your name makes you feel so good! On the back is the ‘Panda Made Me Do It’ logo, which other runners see when I run past them!”

Getting Physical

Then it was time for a jog in the park despite the rain (not that the weather gets in the way of this hardy lot!)

Synergy Physio (a local sports and rehab team) gave their top training tips so Team Panda can hone their techniques.  Loz Cain, who is running London Marathon talks more about training and her experience of the day in her brilliant blog Team Nyan Panda.

After a well deserved, healthy lunch it was time to get in the right frame of mind with a motivational talk from Craig Goldblatt, an expert speaker in his field. Craig explained to the team how they can dig deeper to find their real reasons for running to support WWF and that self-belief is the key!

12 Marathons in 12 Months for Team Panda

One Team Panda member who has certainly got his schedule fully booked is Craig Brewster. He will be running 12 Marathons for us over the next 12 months- all for the panda! This journey will take him from Barcelona, to Brighton and beyond in 2016. I’ll be checking in and keeping you updated on his journey so look out for news in our next blog. I don’t know about you but I’m exhausted just thinking about it!

Stepping up to the challenge

So, this year is set to take Team Panda to another level.  I’m so excited and really looking forward to being there to support our runners. It’s not long until the Brighton Marathon and you can still be part of it too, by volunteering to cheer on the day, it’s a great day out for all the family (plus you get a very sort after panda made me do it T-shirt!)
